Choreography for our main routines was done for a number of years by
Laura Gibson and Emily Blackburn.

They've now moved on to better things, but here's what Laura and Emily had to say about choreographing Cinderella 2005:

We've been dancing since we were 3 and have been in both amateur and professional shows.

To get started we take
a copy of the music and get a few ideas by listening to the words of the song and putting them into dance movements. We think back to the dances from previous years and work around the numbers and ability of the people who are going to be dancing. We also have to think about costumes - not practical to do a 'fame jump' in a dress, as we found out this year!!

Emily mid-fame. Her legs move so fast you can hardly see 'em!

Laura 'Star-suit' Gibson

We take dance moves that we know and try to simplify them to make them easier and enjoyable for the cast. Boring dances equals bored dancers, so we throw around lots of ideas, do a lot of prancing and ta da, there you have a dance!!

We watch each other do the dances to see what they look like and after everyone has recovered from Christmas, start to rehearse with the cast. The dances always change slightly with further ideas from the cast and also once we
actually think about the practicality of the dance space!

After lots of hard work and practice and everyone wondering whether it would ever come together, the show arrives and everyone is brilliant!
